Bubble Puppy Beginnings
First Bite!
When Rod Prince called me, I dropped out of high school to join Bubble Puppy. Why not? In eight months, we were playing "Hot Smoke" on American Bandstand! We toured the nation with Steppenwolf, Spirit, Canned Heat, the Grass Roots, Janis, and many others. We lived in a remote house on Spicewood Springs Road with our stream and waterfalls. We all rode Harleys or Triumph motorcycles. After we moved to California as Demian, we played The Whisky A Go Go and every other club in the L.A. area. We had band meetings at our manager’s house at the top of Laurel Canyon. Idyllic days!
